POSTPONED – What about sexual violence? Where to from here? Inaugural National Association of Services Against Sexual Violence (NASASV) Conference. Marking 30 years of responding to sexual violence.

Unfortunately, this conference has been postponed until 2018. We hope to provide a further update soon.

Not Just ‘Revenge Porn’: How Image-based Abuse is Harming Australians which discussed the taking, distribution and threats to distribute nude/sexual images without a persons consent. The event also featured a launch of GeVARA co-convenor Dr Anastasia Powell’s new book, with Dr Nicola Henry – Sexual Violence in a Digital Age. Videos from the event will be available on YouTube shortly.

Primary Prevention of Violence Against Women: From Local to Global which brought together experts with experience in challenging the structures, cultures and practices that drive violence against women. Hacking Gendered Violence an invitation-only workshop which explored the ways in which computer/data scientists and social scientists can work together to better respond to gendered violence.

Domestic Violence: Applying Research to Policy, Prevention and Practice Panel Discussion which featured: Dean McWhirter (Family Violence Command, Victoria Police);  Dr Lisa Harris (RMIT);  Anne Goldsborough (Magistrates’ Court of Victoria); Dr Georgina Heydon (RMIT); Antoinette Braybrook (Aboriginal Family Violence Prevention and Legal Service Victoria FVPLS); Emily Maguire (Domestic Violence Resource Centre Victoria DVRCV); Christine Craik (RMIT); Dr Emma Partridge (Our Watch); Dr Anastasia Powell (RMIT and chair of the event).
